New courses for paraeducators coming spring 2023

The para educator advisory group met on Monday, December 5, and the meeting notes are available. This group’s purpose is to review, discuss, analyze and make recommendations based on the data and the perspectives of its members. The next meeting will take place in April and the team is looking to increase the number of paraeducators on the team to create a balanced representation of members from across the AEA.

There is also a group of Central Rivers AEA staff working on implementing the recommendations from the advisory group and their own experiences. They have met twice and identified two priority areas as a starting point:

  1. Tips for administrators.
  2. The creation of a newsletter for paraeducators.

The following classes are currently in our system for paraeducators. *Courses one through three are required for those wanting to earn their paraeducator certification.

  • #204124 CR – Paraeducator Generalist Certification Program – Course I Introduction/Foundation (just wrapped up, the instructor is considering another section in January)
  • #204317 CR – Paraeducator Generalist Certification Program – Course II Instructional Support (January 2023)
