Student Engagement Summit coming in March
Join us in Cedar Falls on March 2 with Brian Aspinall, teacher, author and international speaker. His message for instructional leaders, such as principals and teacher leaders, focuses on how to create an environment where all students have opportunities to engage in learning through critical thinking and authentic learning. Participants will engage with local educators throughout a variety of breakout sessions that will focus on engagement strategies and what the strategies look like. Success criteria includes:
- I can notice and name the characteristics of engagement that positively impact students. (ie rigor, authenticity, access to grade-level standards, etc.) during instruction.
- I can understand student perspectives and can advocate for practices that promote engagement.
- I can critique my learning environment and identify the next steps in implementing engaging learning opportunities for students.
- I can intentionally plan for and commit to incorporating additional engagement strategies and/or opportunities.
