Iowa’s AEAs and the Department of Education providing access to the Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading tool


Iowa’s AEAs and the Department of Education are providing access to the Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading (uPAR), at no cost to participating schools that did not previously get free access as part of the AT in SDI pilot. See the enclosed flyer for more information and to request access to the uPAR for your school and/or district.

 

The uPAR is a tool that:

  • Look at read-aloud accommodations that might benefit or be needed by students who are currently reading below grade level.
  • Is designed for students in grades 3 and above.
  • Can be used as a tool for students who are receiving specially designed instruction as part of an IEP.
  • Can be used for students who are reading below grade level and are receiving supplemental support as part of the MTSS.
