No Superintendents’ Meeting in February due to Advocacy Event


There will not be a Superintendents’ Meeting in February due to the 2020 Legislative Education Advocacy Event taking place February 10-11 in Des Moines. There is still time to register for the event that begins on Monday, Feb. 10 at Prairie Meadows Hotel at 5:00 p.m.  School leaders will prepare for the next morning and new this year, you will be able to self-select a group to join in order to learn more about a variety of issues around advocacy. On Tuesday, the group will meet with legislators in the Capitol Rotunda from 7:30-9 a.m.

Hotel reservations can be made by calling the hotel at (800) 325-9015. Ask for the AEA Superintendents’ Legislative Advocacy Event’s reduced rate. Districts are responsible for securing and paying for their own rooms.

  • Wednesday, March 4 – Superintendents’ meeting with Hamish Brewer presenting from 9-11 a.m. You won’t want to miss Hamish’s presentation, Be Relentless and superintendents are welcome to bring members of their administrative team.  Email Lori Thomas (lthomas@centralriversaea.org) the names of those attending in order to get them registered.
  • Thursday & Friday, April 2-3 – Superintendents’ Retreat being held at the Hotel Julien in Dubuque in conjunction with Grant Wood AEA. Details can be found on this flyer.
  • Wednesday, May 6 – Superintendents’ meeting honoring retiring school leaders.
