Attend the Advocacy event on February 10-11

Register now for the 2020 Legislative Education Advocacy Event sponsored by Iowa’s Area Education Agencies. This event brings together school administrators from across Iowa to learn the most up-to-date legislative insight and meet with legislators face-to-face at the Capitol.

The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 at Prairie Meadows Hotel, where school leaders will prepare for the next morning. New this year, you will be able to self-select a group to join in order to learn more about a variety of issues around advocacy. On Tuesday, the group will meet with legislators in the Capitol Rotunda from 7:30-9 a.m.

Hotel reservations can be made by calling the hotel at (800) 325-9015. Ask for the AEA Superintendents’ Legislative Advocacy Event’s reduced rate as they may have to re-open the block. Districts are responsible for securing and paying for their own rooms.  Further details can be found on this flyer.

  • Wednesday, March 4 – Superintendents’ meeting with Hamish Brewer presenting from 9-11 a.m. Superintendents are welcome to bring members of their administrative team and will need to email Lori Thomas the names of those attending to get them registered.
  • Thursday & Friday, April 2-3 – Superintendents’ Retreat in conjunction with Grant Wood AEA. Details will be coming soon.
  • Wednesday, May 6 – Superintendents’ meeting honoring retiring school leaders.
