Maker meetup – Central Rivers AEA


MAKER MEETUP Logo 2019We are excited to share with you an ‘all-star’ line up of amazing educators joining us in Cedar Falls for Maker Meetup on July 30th! Plan to attend as we explore ways to empower students as learners through sharing ideas on how to support learning through Makerspaces. Want to enhance your current space? Don’t have a makerspace? No worries. There is something for everyone!

Our keynote will be Lindsey Own. Lindsey comes to Central Rivers from Seattle, WA. She will be sharing about Social Emotional Learning and the connections with Makerspaces during her keynote. Lindsey will also be hosting a hands-on 90-minute session titled, “Serious Engineering with Simple Materials”. Dig in with Lindsey as she shares how she uses basic resources to teach high-end engineer skills.

Other presenters include Aaron Maurer, STEM Lead from Mississippi Bend and Jenahlee Chamberlain, Iowa City Teacher Librarian.  Also, Nancy FlaniganBridget SpeerKaty Kauffman,  and Leigh Jass!

There will also be a ‘Sandbox Area’ where participants can explore some of Central Rivers’ collection of resources. (Ozobot Evo, Ozobot Bit, Sphero Bolt, Sphero SPK+, Mini Sphero, CUE Robots, littleBits, SAM Labs, Blue-Bots, Bee-Bots, Bloxels EDU, Mambo Drones, Makey Makey, Circuit Playground, Micro:bit, and BeeBot Martian Base) We will also have a ‘sneak peek’ of Kai’s Klan from New Zealand.  https://kaisclan.ai/
