Scholarships for self-identified LGBTQ youth or allies – deadline April 30

The Board of One Iowa NORTH has established the Craig W. Hickok Memorial Scholarship Fund to acknowledge Craig’s lifelong commitment to inclusion, education, support and equality in creating appropriate educational settings that are safe and individualized to meet student needs. As one who loved and supported young people, Craig was a passionate supporter of the arts, including the musical, theatrical and visual arts efforts of students. Craig was involved as an activist ally in social justice issues including racial equality, women’s rights and support of the LGBTQ community.

One Iowa NORTH will award up to two $2500 scholarships this spring to self-identified LGBTQ youth or straight allies who are 17 as of April 30. There is no upper age limit.  Applicants must plan to attend or currently be attending a post-secondary trade or educational institution. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage continuing education, and to promote a positive image of LGBTQ youth.
