Online suicide training module coming in October

As part of legislation passed during the 2018 session, schools will be required to ensure annual training, one hour in length, of their staff on suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. These requirements become effective July 1, 2019.

Iowa’s Area Education Agencies are developing a common online training module that will align with and meet the requirements of SF 2113. This module will be available on Oct. 1.

If your district is in need of something prior to the release of the AEA online module, there is a free, quality training available at http://sptsuniversity.org/. Please be aware that this may not meet the requirements outlined in Iowa Code.
