Bus Grant Program
The Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) Bus Grant program is a grant initiative designed to help schools in the 37 county heritage area fund the transportation costs associated with field study trips to designated SSNHA Partner Sites giving students the opportunity to learn about America’s agricultural heritage firsthand.
The grant funds 75% of the total amount of transportation to and from the school and the selected SSNHA Partner Site for the field study trip, not to exceed $350.00. Since the inception of the program, it has helped more than 24,000 students connect with America’s agricultural story and discover the importance of Iowa’s role in feeding the world.
These partner sites include museums, nature centers, farms and cultural/heritage centers. All the details, eligibility requirements and application can be found at www.silosandsmokestacks.org/
