Announcement : American History in Video is now available – chock full of primary source materials!

The Iowa AEA’s are pleased to announce the addition of a new online resource entitled: American History in Video. The link for access will be housed on the Iowa AEA Online Resources state-wide website and the username/password will remain the same as what you are currently using in your building with the other Iowa AEA Online Resources.

Below is a little information the company has provided:

American History in Video features 2,000 total hours of streaming videos that bring history alive for students. The collection includes hundreds of the documentaries most frequently used in history classrooms, from leading video content producers such as PBS, A&E Television, The History Channel®, California Newsreel, Bullfrog Films, and others.

Students can learn about the Battle of Gettysburg, understand the scope and legacy of the American Civil War with Ken Burns’s riveting PBS series, or view original news footage of the D-Day invasion of Normandy from Universal Newsreels.

As a biographical resource, American History in Video includes hundreds of profiles of great American leaders and personalities. One suggestion: Compare Kennedy’s rhetorical flair with Nixon’s.

Tools for teaching and research:

American History in Video is designed specifically for teaching and research. Features include and are not limited to: multiple search options (full-length videos or clips), browse tools, synchronized transcripts, embedded links, customized playlists by theme.
